Author
Johnny, your first-generation helper
I'm a nonprofit finance executive, a chief financial officer with an MBA, writing Wealth Growth Tips for people who are figuring out money without anyone at home to ask. I also launched my own concierge medicine management company. At home, I'm a family guy and a girl dad.
Credentials
- Role: Chief Financial Officer at a nonprofit
- Education: MBA
I keep employer names off this site on purpose. I write here as a person, not for any organization I've worked for. More of the story is on the About page.
What I write about
- Reading your first pay stub and what to do with your first real paycheck
- Employer matches, Roth vs traditional, and starting with simple index funds
- Emergency funds, building credit from zero, and which debt to pay off first
- Sending money home and supporting family without giving up your own future
- How raises actually get decided, from someone who reviews them
How I write and review each guide
- Every guide comes from my own experience and knowledge, and I personally review and approve everything before it's published.
- I check tax limits, rules, and numbers against primary sources (for example IRS publications or plan documents) and note the date.
- Every guide shows when it was last reviewed. I re-check the numbers when the rules change, at least once a year.
- If I get something wrong, I fix it and add a note at the bottom of the guide saying what changed.
- Examples use round, illustrative numbers. They aren't promises of results.
